About Us

Thank you for taking a little time to get to know us! We opened the doors of Supernova in January 2014. Our reason for being here is to offer people a place to practice yoga every single day of the week. You will get the most from yoga when you practice at least twice a week or more. We could try to explain how awesome it feels to do yoga, but you’ve really just gotta experience it for yourself. It feels different every day. It will help you realign with what matters most to you in the world and start to live in a space of greater intention. There’s no better time than right now to get started! Drop us a line or call us with any questions.

Love, Joe and Kate

Teaching Since 2011

I’ve been practicing yoga since 1995, and spent countless hours of exploration on my mat at Baron Baptiste’s flagship studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I use tried and true methods to help you access the foundation, alignment, and action of each pose as well as simple, effective breathing and mediation techniques.  I am thrilled to share my passion for yoga with the community of southwestern Nova Scotia, having spent summers growing up on Surette’s Island where my Mom was raised.

Teaching Since 2014

I started practicing yoga in 2005 as another way to get in shape. What started as a physical journey continues to this day as a lot of inquiry and self-discovery. My yoga practice has become a spiritual lighthouse—whenever the waters of life get rocky it reminds me what direction to go in. Whatever called you to read my bio or to check out our schedule, for the love of god TRUST IT! You’re meant to be here and we’re happy to have you! See you in class.

Teaching Since 2019

I have practiced yoga since 2009, when I started taking yoga classes as a new addition to my exercise routine. Once I made it a regular practice I realized that it not only offered physical benefits, but mental benefits as well. I’m the type of person who always has a million thoughts running through my head at any given time. The time I invest on my mat has helped me “drop my brain” and live in the here and now. When I teach I aim to help my students discover new spaces, mentally and physically.

Teaching Since 2019

I tried yoga for the first time when I was about 10 years old. Since then I’ve tried different styles of yoga, and when I landed in University I committed to practicing at a hot yoga studio to help me get out of a Winter funk one year. I realized then that yoga is a huge catalyst for shifting your energy. In 2014 I completed my a 200-HR yoga teacher training with Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio in Halifax. I’m passionate about bringing the teachings of yoga into my life on and off the mat, and through teaching hope to inspire others to do so, too.

Teaching Since 2024

I have practiced yoga on and off for over 14 years but came back to it regularly in 2022 when trying to heal from an unexpected tragedy. The practice of slowing down your thoughts and unifying mind body in breath has the power to heal. What else in this world can heal both your heart and your lower back at the same time!

I trained to become a yoga teacher to better understand this amazing thing that has been such a positive force for change in my life, and I want to encourage more people to discover their potential on the mat!

Teaching Since 2024

My yoga journey began many years ago as I explored various styles, but none quite resonated with me. That changed a few years ago when I discovered Baptiste style power yoga. This practice was a game-changer for me, not only challenging me physically, but allowing me to calm my mind. I originally pursued yoga to supplement my running and reduce injuries, and it has since become so much more. Now, I’m committed to deepening my knowledge and sharing the benefits of yoga with others.
